Everybody is getting ready for…

I found them sitting very quietly with their pumpkins at a gardening store on Davie St. I think they are meditating and training themselves not to drool over the pumpkins. I suggested them to make a pumpkin pie after the meditation just in case they didn’t know what to do with them after wards. I guess everybody is getting ready for Halloween, even Buddha.

Urban Intervention- mock up

Here is my mock up. It is a mock up for a project called Urban Intervention. For this project, we (DIVA 200 class) is creating a graphic mark that will be installed in a public space, on Grandville Island.

The location I picked is where I feel relieved every time I walk by, and it is under the light on the wall of Micon Products Ltd. Micon Products Ltd is a metal working shop where people make tools for mining work, and they have been working since (if my memory is correect..) 1986. To get the feeling of their hard work, you should actually go see them at the site. The windows are open most of the time. What I want to do with this project with this location is to create a moment of relieve for the people working there and also for us (ECI people) (and maybe more) when we pass by. I have more to say but I am saving that for later…

I am still debating over which image to use for the Urban Intervention project..

After gazing in and out of the images for a long time, I decided to show them to my friends and hear what they think. Sometimes other people can see things better or clear than one’s self.

and I need your advice, too on this Wednesday !

I made small changes to my map. I tried to change the orders of the placement marks on the left handside list but it didn’t let me do it..does any body know how to do it?

Christian Boltanski

Christian Boltanski-he is one of my favorite artists, who often works with installations. and whom I am going to write my paper on.

In most of his work, he uses electric devices to create the mood of “absence” or “loss.” I am interested in making mood and the devices, sound, light, smell, and temperature, which can be applied to make the mood.
