Last semester, I had to get some sort of red fish for my sculpture project. I figured that baby Koi fish was the most suitable ones, so I bought 2 of them for about 50cents. I was very surprised at how cheap they are. What if I could by baby salmon fish for so cheap and raise it until it gets to eatable size…?but then meanwhile, I will become attached to the salmon and will not be able to eat it, I guess. Anyway, here is the picture of one of the koi fish in my work.

It looks like there are 2 but it’s just an reflection of the water. In short explanation, this project theme was to make an emphasis on inside and outside on something, so I mischievously juxtaposed the vast ocean with a space in a little dish bowl for the fish. After the project was done, I had to give those fish away to somebody because I knew that I won’t be able to take care of them. Luckily, I found my friend, Kriza who wanted to take care of them. BUT then a week later, she accidentally dropped one of the two into a drain when she was cleaning the tank…she said she screamed and made long distance calls to people to share her sympathy. I can’t really pick on her because I have also killed a guppy fish when I was 9yrs old. I had the guppy in a little glass case on top of a TV near a window. It was fine for winter and spring, but summer came, and the fish was boiled to death… my hometown can get to 30 degrees above.

This weekend I went to Kriza’s house and finally got to see the well survived one in 4 months. He was put in a IKEA container with 2 other gold fish. Here is the picture.

They even had a spot light. The koi fish has grown twice the size as I first got him from the store. According to Kriza, he is too fat, ( I couldn’t tell) so I hope he won’t get too too fat and get cancer later in his life. Best regard. No matter where the fish go he will always have spontaneous life, even in the ocean he may be eaten by a bigger fish (koi fish don’t live in salt water…say, maybe a pond) or he may be loved so much by somebody. This maybe applied to our lives, too. okay, it’s getting corny, I shall shut up.

and I am starting to feel very bad for being so absent so I am most likely putting something up this weekend.

just not now…I guess I am putting this up!! but something more intriguing, hopefully.

I still don’t feel that the year has changed.. but that’s ok if i believe it or not does not effect anything on the earth.

Everything was the same but as soon as I sat, the chair and desks seemed very tiny. It is amazing how much I grew up.

I pretended to be in a class. I felt good. I wish I had this same brain when I was a student there so I could be a outstanding student. maybe not.

ゾウ＝elephant

This is inside the air canada airplane flying to Japan. something was wrong there …it was too nice. Every passenger had own screen and got to choose a movie from many movies. Everything was great but food…no comment. and i found some anthropomorphized objects the last one is an elephant (it’s the hook that holds up the table panel) and the middle one is Gachapin (a weird creature in Japanese kid’s tv show)..some people might recognize.

Doesn’t it look like it’s about to have a sip from the drink or trying to give it to you? It just captured my eye on Robson St. a  few minutes ago, so I couldn’t resist to photograph.

This is a vending machine in Japan. One morning last summer, I was standing in front of it, and I heard somebody talking to me, so I turned around but there was nobody.. I looked around. It was this vending machine. There is a screen at the centre, trying to catch people’s attention. I was amazed by it first but, right away, thought it is too much just for a vending machine. Now vending machines have advanced technologies such as that you can buy items with your cell phone (you pay later with your phone bill) and this screen but I don’t buy anything from vending machines anymore, I used to when I was little because I thought it was like a magical box and coolest thing in the world. Now I know that all the beverages are over priced and I prefer drinking at cafes or at home. I feel little sorry for these vendies sometimes but their golden age might be over…BUT I am actually interested in what kind of crazy technology they come up with next!

I don’t know if you have seen a blue car with fountains and other decorative stuff on it but if you have, doesn’t this car remind you of that car? and at the same time you may realize this car is no less elaborative. The snow makes it look even more dynamic, just like the icing on a already completed cake. Are those stuffed creatures on the front and back bumpers for cushioning? If I were driving a car near by, I would be extra careful not to hit them…

This is video of two famous violinists from Japan, Taro Hakase and Iwao Fukusawa. My friend sent me this video, and I truly enjoyed watching it, so I thought maybe I can share it with other people, too. There are many more videos of those two, and every time I watch, I am amazed by how they look so eased and having so much fun playing. Although I don’t mean I can play the violin, I want to be like them sometime in th future, who do something they really enjoy and at the same time amaze people.

P.S. At the middle part of this video, they start having a conversation with the violin sound. Translation: “Hey Iwao.” “What?” “We are doing pretty well today, aren’t we?” “Yes, I agree.”

and then they play vehicle sounds.
